While Scooter's public access skills are spot on, he's been struggling with moving on to the next level of scent discrimination. We've had several fails and made multiple adjustments but he's starting to get it, having more confidence and willingness in the game. Today he was outside when I pulled a scent article from the freezer to prepare for an outing. He happened to come inside, came right over to the counter by the open bag, put his head up high with intense sniffing. I rewarded him of course and started a short session, which he nailed. We headed out for our trip to Walmart to fine tune his PA skills, did a quick low BGL alerting session and now he's chilling with me in this lovely sunshine. This is huge for us! He recognized and alerted on the odor without any prompting or visual aids. Proud trainer/2nd mom!
